History of Block Panchayat

The Karadka Block was established on November 1, 2010, with its headquarters at Karmathodi. It was formed with the aim of fostering the social and economic upliftment of a highly underprivileged population living in the linguistically diverse region of North Kerala. The block incorporates seven Grama Panchayats: Kumbadaje and Bellur from the Manjeshwaram Block Panchayat limits, and Bedadka, Delampady, Muliyar, Karadka, and Kuttikol from the Kasaragod Block Panchayat limits.

Sharing its border with the state of Karnataka, this region is home to a community that speaks diverse languages and practices varied customs. The formation of the block has successfully enhanced agricultural, industrial, educational, and healthcare activities, while also preserving the culture of the land and boosting agricultural development.

Since its inception in 2010, the Karadka Block Panchayat did not have its own building and operated out of a rented facility in Mulleria with limited amenities. However, on April 12, 2018, the Karadka Block Panchayat acquired its own building featuring modern office facilities. This office complex was inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan. Currently, several offices under the jurisdiction of the Block Panchayat operate from this building, including the Engineering Wing, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Integrated Child Development Project Office, Scheduled Caste Development Office, Dairy Extension Office, Industrial Extension Office, and Vayomitram.
